AFTER USING PHd

Within a year of taking on PHd design, Sinclair have their sauces in 250 branches of Morrisons, 250 national retail groups, including Holland & Barrett, and are negotiating a deal with Tesco. They also sell through major retailers in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Germany and Dubai.
This recognition has won them the Great Taste Gold award and the BBC Good Food Show Bursary Award.

SO... HOW DID WE ACHIEVE THIS GROWTH WITH SINCLAIR?

THE PRODUCT

The sauces have always been exceptional, but customers buy with their eyes, so we needed to make sure the product looked as good as it tasted.
NEW BRAND
The first thing we did was to upgrade the company name to Sinclair Condiments Co of Buckinghamshire, immediately bringing a certain amount of prestige and a sense of history to the brand.

NEW LABELS
The labels were designed to reflect the products’ quality roots and English heritage, make Sinclair look like a long-established company, and highlight the flavours and selling points.

This helped ensure that the products looked suitable to grace the supermarkets’ deli sections, as well as being striking, fun and individual enough to attract attention.

As Sinclair progressed, they won awards, the introduction of these awards onto the labels helped to give buyers confidence to ‘try it’.
DIVERSIFICATION
Not content to rest on their laurels, Sinclair introduced catering packs and sauce pots into the market.

THE AWARENESS

Now the product looked good, but to make sure people can buy Sinclair ’s sauces, customers need to know they exist. Getting their name out into the world, in the right way, was key to their success.
WEBSITE
Their presence online was designed to give more details on the product, and solidify any interest in the product.
SOCIAL MEDIA
Via various managed social media platforms, Sinclair built a following, sharing updates, recipes, enticing followers with competitions and prizes.

VEHICLE SIGNAGE
Their ‘funkwagon’ was a great talking point at shows, meetings, fairs, and functioned as a constant billboard wherever it went. Messages on the car successfully encouraged people to take ‘selfies’ of them and the car, sharing the images to win prizes.
LITERATURE
For end customers, buyers, shops and supermarkets an array of targeted flyers and leaflets were created to achieve, interest, interaction or sales.

EXHIBITIONS
Mainly to attract new trade buyers at industry shows, we created bright and eye catching stand graphics to make sure they got attention from key buyers at shows.

PRESENTATIONS
Slick presentations, informative handouts, and the all important product taste tests, made sure that Sinclair had all the answers when they managed to set up meetings with buyers.

MOCK-UPS
To help make the life of the buyers easier, mockups of point of sale displays, shelf talkers and promotional posters were created. This helped them visualise Sinclair sauces in the stores and made the decision to buy easier.
